Thank you for the opportunity to provide you with some background information on me and my company. If the highest quality in workmanship is what you're looking for, you've come to the right place.

I purchased Chapin Upholstery in April, 2002, and changed the company's name to Suncoast Upholstery.   My company philosophy is simple. If my customers are considering investing in pieces they treasure, I intend to provide only the highest quality in workmanship so their investment will be worthwhile. My background in the industry is extensive, and I am very knowledgeable about furniture construction, method and design. Upholstery is a craft that I have practiced my entire life.

Initially, I received specialized training in the furniture/upholstery program at PTEC in St. Petersburg and perfected my skills in various local upholstery companies until I opened my first upholstery business, Ken's Custom Upholstery in St. Petersburg, in 1981. During that same period, I became a state certified teacher and worked at PTEC teaching their furniture/upholstery program.

In 1986 I accepted a position as Quality Control Supervisor at Southern Seating, an automobile upholstery company. In 1987, I began a career with Ethan Allen Home Interiors in Pinellas Park. When I left Ethan Allen in 2002, I was their Reupholstery Department Manager. My responsibilities with Ethan Allen were varied, and included personnel management, sales, customer relations, design consulting, purchasing and acting as factory liaison.

Ethan Allen's reputation for high end, top quality furniture is unsurpassed, and while my position with Ethan Allen was interesting and rewarding, I wanted to create. At Suncoast Upholstery, I have that opportunity.

Upholstery, to me, isn't just transforming a worn piece of furniture into something that looks new. It's preserving our history, breathing new life into the treasured pieces of our past so future generations can enjoy their function and beauty. This is why I practice my craft, and this is what you can expect in my work.
